About: |
The first bank in
majority foreign ownership (60% shareholding) was established in Slovenia
on 24 January, 1991. This was Landerbank Ljubljana, which on 28 November,
1991 merged with Zentralsparkasse, Austria and began to operate under the
name of Bank Austria, d.d., Ljubljana. With the acquisition of a 56% share
in Nova banka, Banka Creditanstalt entered the Slovene banking environment
on 26 March, 1992. By means of capital increases and purchases of shares
from other shareholders, the mother companies - Bank Austria Vienna and
Creditanstalt Vienna - increased their shareholdings in the bank to 99.5%.
On 2 November, 1998 Banka Creditanstalt merged with Bank Austria.
The merger of these two banks in Ljubljana is the result of a bold
business strategy pursued by the majority owner of the two banks - Bank
Austria Creditanstalt International AG Vienna. The entire business
operation of the two banks is now uniformly organized, which has
contributed to improved efficiency, also in Slovenia.
The registered name of the bank is Bank Austria Creditanstalt d.d.
Ljubljana. The bank has the status of a universal bank with full
authorizations and, after the merger, has used the uniform logo Bank
Austria Creditanstalt. |
