| HVB Bank Biochim, member of UniCredit Group, is a leading bank in Bulgaria with total assets of BGN 2.7 billion (about EUR 1.4 billion) as of the end of the second quarter of 2006. HVB Bank Biochim is a subsidiary of Bank Austria Creditanstalt (BA-CA), a member of UniCredit Group. BA-CA is Austria’s largest bank with shareholders’ equity of more than 7 billion euros. Together with UniCredit, BA-CA operates the most extensive international banking network in CEE with responsibility for 24 countries, more than 2,900 offices and some 60,000 employees serving about 17 million customers. UniCredit Group is the fourth-largest bank in Europe. By joining forces with HVB Group and BA-CA in 2005, a truly European bank was created. HVB Bank Biochim has about 1 500 employees working in around 130 branches and offices covering the whole territory of Bulgaria. The bank together with Bulbank and Hebros Bank are members of UniCredit Group. It is planned for the three financial institutions in Bulgaria to merge in the second quarter of 2007. The merger of Bulbank, HVB Bank Biochim and Hebros Bank will create the leading Bulgarian bank with total assets of EUR 3 billion, 326 branches and over 1 million customers.
